Madelyn Spatt Shulman has extensive experience advising and representing corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and their members, directors, officers and shareholders in corporate, tax and securities matters. She represents clients in transactional matters, arbitration and litigation, and before regulatory bodies.
Ms. Shulman provides advanced tax and estate planning services for high net worth clients. She probates and administers estates and represents clients in disputed estate actions in the New York metropolitan area Surrogate's Courts. She also acquires and sells high end residential real properties and commercial properties in New York City and its surrounding areas.
Ms. Shulman services clients throughout the New York metropolitan area. She regularly represents owners of closely-held entities in business disputes and breakup transactions. She currently represents the owners of companies who are transitioning ownership and operation to the next generation as well as real estate owners and investors who are buying and selling portfolio properties. She works with regulators and lenders to restructure companies encountering economic problems or damaged by corporate malfeasance. She provided legal expertise to the United States fundraising efforts for a specialized heart hospital located in Ahmedabad, India. She serves as arbitration counsel for high net-worth investors in broker-dealer disputes. Ms. Shulman particularly enjoys representing clients in diverse industries.
Ms. Shulman began her career with the international law firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, where she focused on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and venture financing, and representing public corporations. She also served in Stroock’s corporate-estate department, which provided guidance on entity reorganizations to some of New York’s large, well-known, family-owned businesses. She has served since 2012 as Of Counsel to the New York office of Carlton Fields.
Ms. Shulman frequently lectures to professional and business groups on a
wide variety of legal, business and tax topics.
